I'm an audio buff, and immediately smiled at the sound improvement the top made for the car. I would estimate the road noise is cut in half, especially at highway speeds. Immediately when you drive the Spyder with the hardtop, the first thing you notice is how much quieter the cabin is. Based on the looks alone, the top is easily worth the money spent IMO. I took a few closer up pics so you can see a few of the details I'm talking about. The subtle lines of the top really make it stand out and flow together with the lines of the car. The top really flows with the lines of the car and does not look like it is just set on top like most hardtops do. No doubt he drove away thinking, "Crap, why did I buy a Miata." He remarked on how he thought it was actually a Spyder coupe when he first saw it and remarked that he had never seen a hardtop so well integrated with the car. I actually had a guy in a Miata slam on brakes and pull up next to me at a gas station yesterday. My first impression and that of most entusiasts I have shown the top to have remarked at how it almost makes the car look like a factory coupe. The glass almost looks like a continous part of the top itself. You can see in the pics below how the rear glass is integrated into the top with no exterior gaskets. The top is extremely well engineered and put together. The top off course comes color matched to you car and the color match is perfect. The top looks even better than I thought it would on the car. The rear of the top hooks into two chrome brackets which are permanently mounted just forward of the engine lid.Īpperance: Of course one main reason I bought the hardtop was for it's looks. On the inside the top is secured with 4 latches simlilar to the latches on the soft top. The top itself is fiberglass and the headliner is cloth (almost like a heavy felt). I would estimate 40-50 lbs, most of which is due to the beautiful wrap-around rear glass. I can email pictures if you are interested. The top itself is not that heavy. I can take credit cards but your ID better match the card as I can take with a Square Reader or you can use PayPal so that would be an option too but cash talks and likely make me give a discount. If we are meeting half way you better have cash and if I'm delivering or you are picking it up around Lake Stevens it better be close to your bank branch if you want to use a check. I'll deliver anywhere in Washington or Oregon but it will cost you $0.50/mile from Lake Stevens,WA. It comes with the defroster cable but couldn't tell you if the window element works. There are minor chips along the front edge from road debris and the finish could use a good buff and wax. I did see on the web several references to prices ranging upwards of $2600 but really not sure what the value of this one is as there is no hardware for the car and it isn't in excellent condition so it'll be $2000 - OBO. After searching the web I think this forum is the best place to start. Didn't see any reason the bank should get this as he paid for it. I'm selling this for his son as there will be little if any inheritance left after bills. The car is going back to the bank as he had taken a collateral loan out against it (keep an eye out for it in Portland, OR). My brother-in-law passed away the first week of August and while we were cleaning out his apartment we came across a red hard top in a nice zippered bag and on a rolling rack.
